HOW TO PERFORM A TAROT READING

Tarot cards are divided into two groups. The Major Arcana and the Minor Arcana.

The Major Arcana represent forces that are out of our control. These cards can be identified in this deck by the Sun or Moon symbol that is present in the card's frames.

The Minor Arcana represent that which we have the power to change. These cards are divided into four suits and can be identified by their corresponding symbols; Wands, Cups, Swords, and Pentacles.

To perform a reading start by shuffling the deck. Without looking draw four cards and place them face down, forming the same diamond shape that is shown in the diagram below.

Next, turn over each card and note its direction. Whether the card is upright or reversed will determine the meaning of the card. Remember the orientation of the card is dependent on who the subject of the reading is.

Using the diagram below distinguish what each card placement represents. Next, use the buttons at the top of this page to find the specific cards that you're looking for. Read their meanings, then attempt to interpret what the cards mean individually, and then what they mean as a whole.
